BROOKINGS, S.D. –  Daktronics Inc (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minn., has chosen the company to design, manufacture and install unique lighting elements atop the roof of the theater.

“The Guthrie is pleased to bring Daktronics on board to complete our LED towers,” said Jacques Brunswick, Chief Administrative Officer of The Guthrie Theater. “We’re confident that Daktronics work on this project will allow us to fulfill the design intent of architect Jean Nouvel.”

The lighting installation is composed of three towers, measuring 80 feet, 60 feet and 40 feet, and each will feature Daktronics freeform light emitting diode (LED) lighting elements, allowing the Guthrie to add to the unique architecture of the building by complementing the existing illumination. The Guthrie is pre-eminent among theaters both nationally and internationally. With the addition of the LED lighting elements from Daktronics, it will become even more of a landmark.

Daktronics freeform lighting elements offer full-color capability and individual pixel control, unlike neon and incandescent lighting. With up to one billion colors, this technology can display everything from simple color change effects to complicated animations to full-color video. And because it relies on LEDs, Daktronics freeform lighting elements consume less power than traditional lighting methods.

“Daktronics prides itself on being able to deliver unique solutions to customers,” said Joey Hulsebus, Daktronics sales. “The installation of Daktronics freeform lighting elements at the Guthrie is just another example of our cutting-edge technology and unique engineering capabilities. We’re excited to partner with the Guthrie to enhance their facility and the Minneapolis skyline.”
